Whale's Tongue Agave

Product Details
Agave ovatifolia 'Whale’s Tongue' is a striking succulent native to the mountains of northeastern Mexico, prized for its bold, architectural form and blue-gray foliage. Its name comes from the broad, upward-curling leaves that resemble a whale’s tongue, forming a tight rosette up to six feet wide. Unlike many agaves, it tolerates both extreme heat and surprising cold, making it a standout in xeriscapes and modern desert gardens. This rare species gained popularity for its sculptural presence and resilience in challenging climates.
Our plants are propagated via tissue culture, a clonal process that results in true to type, disease-free plants that are grown on their own roots. They have been grown in ellepots to promote healthy root development.

Whale's Tongue agave generally grow best in full sun. However, in areas where summers are harsh, they prefers partial shade.
MicroStarts' plants in 1 gallon nursery pots are a more mature, ready-to-grow alternative to our specialty product, starter plants.
