We grow a lot of agave at MicroStarts, and every so often, nature surprises us with something truly special - from unusual shapes to striking, one-of-a-kind variegation patterns. For the first time ever, we're bringing these unique finds to you with The Collector’s Shelf! We'll be releasing a rotating selection of our favorite standout agave, giving you a chance to discover rare and unusual plants straight from our collection. Keep an eye on the shelf, find your favorites, and snag them while you can. Each selection is available for a limited time, and once they're gone, they're gone!
Agave on the shelf descend from named agave varieties offered by MicroStarts, including Blue Glow, Boutin Blue, Whale's Tongue, and more.
Each Collector's Shelf agave ships in a 1 gallon nursery pot and thrives with minimal care. Place them in full sun or (for less variegated plants) partial shade, water sparingly, and allow the soil to dry between waterings. If kept in a pot, use well-draining cactus or succulent soil for best results. MicroStarts drought tolerant plants thrive in xeriscapes, rock gardens, and low-maintenance landscapes.
Our plants are propagated via tissue culture, a clonal process that results in true to type, disease-free plants that are grown on their own roots. They have been grown in ellepots to promote healthy root development.
