Introduced in the 1990s, the Honeycrisp apple quickly became one of the most celebrated modern apple varieties. It produces exceptionally crisp, juicy fruit with a balanced sweet-tart flavor, making it a favorite for fresh eating. The tree bursts into showy white blossoms each spring before developing its signature red-and-gold apples in early fall. Cold-hardy and bred for northern climates, Honeycrisp has become a defining success in American apple breeding.

Your Honeycrisp apple tree is grafted (ensuring true-to-type fruit) and ships in a Jumbo Ellepot - an eco-friendly, ready-to-plant paper sleeve. These trees are not bare root.

Honeycrisp apples are large, red-and-gold fruits with an exceptionally crisp, juicy texture and a balanced sweet-tart flavor.

Planting & Care

These trees are grafted to ensure they produce fruits that are true to type, matching the quality, flavor, and characteristics of their parent variety.

Ellepots promote healthy, air-pruned root systems and can be planted directly into the ground. If you purchase an Ellepot plant, no need to remove the biodegradable sleeve - it can be planted straight in the ground!

Honeycrisp apple trees are self-sterile, and need to be paired with other pollinator apple trees to produce fruit (such as Gala, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, or Ambrosia). See "Recommended Pollinators" for pollinators we carry.

Taller trees will be cut down to 34” prior to shipping. Trees shipped in winter are dormant and leafless, and naturally awaken in spring.
