European olives, the edible type, were brought to Southern California in the 1800s by Franciscan missionaries. Expect these olive trees to bloom around mid to late May, with fruit to follow in late September. Until the tree can support the weight of its fruit on its own, make sure to add a support stake to keep it upright. Perfect as a potted plant or planted in the ground.
