***These plants were propagated via tissue culture. They are disease and pest-free and have been grown using ellepot trays to promote healthy root development.***
This listing is a 4 pack of ‘Blue Flame‘ agave for homeowners looking to add gorgeous low maintenance drought resistant plants to their house or landscape. We also have variety packs for agave and more mature agave available in 1 gallon pots.
The blue-green leaves are gracefully incurved, fibrous but not rigid, with a flat wide shape, 18-inches long by 4- to 6-inches wide at the base, with taper to a sharp but not dangerous tip. Growth habits are upright, graceful and spreading, with an illusion of movement created by their curving leaves that mimics blue flames.
This hybrid variety flowers in typical agave form: a tall, solitary stalk 10-15 ft tall with unimpressive yellow flowers after 10 to 15 years. The seeds/fruits are sterile and sometimes after flowering grows bulbils. After flowering the plant dies though basal offsets will persist. These new shoots from the base are the only way these plants can be propagated outside of a tissue culture lab.
If the densely arrayed basal offshoots are not thinned this variety can form a clump that spreads 6-8 feet wide. These agave are a monocarpic, evergreen, succulent, fibrous, and herbaceous perennial.
Growth Rate: Slow-Moderate
Mature Size of individual plant: 2-3 feet wide and 3 feet tall
USDA hardiness zone: 8-11
Full sun except where summers are harsh this plant prefers partial shade
Parentage: Agave attentuata x Agave shawii
As these are live plants we prefer not to do returns or exchanges but if there are issues with your order we can replace or refund with proof that shipment did not arrive in good condition.
